Here’s my story. What’s yours?

I have always had a strong entrepreneurial spirit even as young as 10 or 11 years old. I realized early that I would love the opportunity to one day have my own business. It started with a garage sale that wasn’t your ordinary garage sale. I had great displays, a cash register, receipt book and every sold item was neatly packed in a bag. I learned early on the importance of excellent customer service and the potential for repeat customers.

I will fast forward about 20 years to my first venture as an entrepreneur. I started making crafts for the home. I made wreaths and centerpieces and that moved to floral arrangements for weddings. I loved the extra cash, but knew this wasn’t the area I wanted to focus on. So fast forward 15 years to when I had some free time from being laid off from my job. I took a year off and decided I needed to focus on another area to fuel my entrepreneurial passion to be a business owner. I literally stumbled upon candle making and I have been hooked ever since.

I started out making gel candles but quickly switched to soy wax. I love SOY wax and I am truly and madly in love with fragrance oils. I tried using wicks and although there is a certain ambience of a flame, it just wasn’t for me. I quickly stopped working with wicks and started making flameless or wickless candles. I love the low maintenance of making flameless candles and the no hassle of properly placing the wick in a container. I honestly would not feel comfortable selling wicked candles. I would constantly worry about my customer’s safety. And, that would take the enjoyment out of producing the products that I love to make. That’s just me and my personal preference though. So SOY it is! It’s a wonderful feeling to be able to do what you love. I am excited to see where this goes and I am glad that you all are along for the ride. So that’s my story – what’s yours?

Soyfully yours,
Ciscely
